As a next step to building on the documentary, an event titled Hope for the Working Hungry will be held Tuesday August 29th 6:30-7:30 pm at St Luke’s United Methodist Church, 100 W 86th St, Indianapolis, and on-line.
The event will feature:
· Fred Glass, CEO of Gleaners, on why food banks need to be ending poverty, not just hunger
· Dr. Shellye Suttles, IU and Indy Hunger Network, addressing local learnings and toxic myths that keep the US from ending poverty and hunger
· Dr. Jim Ziliak, Founding Director of the Center for Poverty Research at University of Kentucky, will share policy solutions with bipartisan appeal
· Thoughts from Senator Todd Young
· An effective advocacy action
