We Advocate for Change
We visit local congressional offices, ensuring that representatives protect and continue to invest in domestic and international programs that reduce hunger and poverty. We thank representatives for supporting bipartisan legislation that helps people across the world feed and nourish themselves.

We Engage Individuals
We train everyday concerned citizens to become politically-engaged advocates. Our members write personal emails and letters to Congress in support of federal programs for hungry people in the U.S. and around the world.

We Mobilize the Faith Community
We help congregations inform their members and direct their energy into advocacy campaigns. This year, more than 40 diverse churches and Central Indiana organizations are participating in a Joint Ecumenical Offering of Letters. Already 4,000 letters have been delivered to Congress and several of our elected leaders have cosponsored a Global Nutrition Resolution.

We educate
The easiest way to join us in our mission to preserve vital hunger-relieving programs is to attend one of our workshops.  These workshops are offered occasionally and are publicized via email, Facebook, and the News & Events page of this website. Two of our workshops are described below.

Ending Hunger 101: Changing the Systems
Hunger is immoral and unnecessary — yet it is an inescapable, and massive problem in our world today. In this three-part presentation learn what it takes to end the scourge of hunger — by first understanding its root causes. Explore the systemic issues that contribute to food insecurity and learn what you can do to change them.

Racial Wealth Gap Learning Simulation
Why does poverty impact people of color disproportionately in our nation? As awareness of the realities of racism in our nation grows, Bread for the World offers this 1 1/2-hour experience, designed to introduce participants not just to current the racial wealth gap, but how it has been embedded in the fabric of the U.S. economy for centuries.
